B. Sagintayev met with the writing community on the eve of Independence Day
Akim of Almaty Bakhytzhan Sagintayev discussed with the members of the Writers' Union of Kazakhstan issues of support and development of the creative association, and also summed up the results of the competition "Almaty - the golden cradle of Independence", timed to coincide with the anniversary date.

At the meeting, B. Sagintayev addressed the townspeople, recalling the difficult sanitary and epidemiological situation with regard to the coronavirus. Despite the decline in the incidence rate, a new omicron strain continues to spread around the world. Its penetration into Kazakhstan is not excluded. In this regard, the akim of the city called on all Almaty residents to take care of their health and support the efforts of doctors to vaccinate, and now also revaccinate the population.
Today, the Union of Writers of Kazakhstan has 820 members, of which 400 live in Almaty. According to the tradition established at the end of 2019, Almaty poets and writers received grants from the Akim of Almaty.
Also, today, the results of the creative competition "Almaty - the golden cradle of Independence", timed to coincide with the anniversary date, were summed up. Along with the masters, young poets and writers took part in the competition. Creative works were presented in four genres - poetry, prose, children's literature, drama.
The winners were Askhat Omirbayev for the story “Dad, let's go back to our homeland!”, Turysbek Sauketayev for the short story “Kokshulan”, Duman Ramazan for the historical drama “Ukim”, Patigul Makhsatova for a cycle of poems in the Kazakh language.
On behalf of B. Sagintayev last year, funds were allocated for the publication of works by 30 authors. The work of both young writers and classics of Kazakh literature was supported. This year, more than a hundred recognized masters and young creators have published books. Book presentations will take place in the city's libraries.
“Support for the writing community will continue. You are the witnesses of historical events, passing them through your heart, and conveying them to the reader. On the anniversary year of Independence, I wish you good health and inspiration! ”B. Sagintayev said at the end of the meeting.
