This was announced by the city akim Bakhytzhan Sagintayev at a press conference at the Central Communications Service under the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan. At the same time, he specified that in the second quarter of this year, the number of foreign tourists increased by 42%.
 
According to the speaker, 3 hotels with 628 rooms have been built this year. 54.3 billion tenge were invested in them. In addition, improvement and creation of a safe infrastructure for mountain tourism is underway.
In the mountains of Almaty, a helipad is under construction in the Tuyuk-su tract, 15 mountain rescue huts have been installed on remote junctions of mountain routes with satellite communications and SOS panic buttons.
Two special control and rescue points have been manufactured, which will be installed in the mountainous area with a round-the-clock duty of rescuers of 16 people. A pilot project of a monitoring system for alarm buttons in the Kimasar gorge has also been launched.
To date, more than 1000 km of mountain hiking trails have been digitized in the mountainous area, of which more than 500 km have been landscaped. All of them are available on the 2Gis and ViewRanger platforms. All the necessary information data have been installed on these routes, including stands with QR codes, where tourists can familiarize themselves with the complexity of the route, its length and travel time.
In addition, in the Big and Small Almaty gorges, it is planned to complete the improvement of mountain routes with a total length of about 179 km by the end of this year. Work is also underway to create 6 camping zones in Gorelnik, Prosveschents, Kyzylsai, Kazachka and on the Lunnaya glade.
In 2020, the tourism industry turned out to be one of the sectors of the economy most affected by the coronavirus pandemic. Nevertheless, the number of domestic tourists was 422 thousand.
According to the results of the second quarter of 2021, the total number of tourists in Almaty amounted to more than 501.4 thousand people, of which foreign - 54.2 thousand, domestic tourists - more than 447.2 thousand.
