More than a million residents of Almaty have been vaccinated against COVID-19 since the start of the vaccination campaign. In a live broadcast of Akimat LIVE on the Almaty TV channel, Akim of the city Bakhytzhan Sagintayev, once again urged residents of the metropolis not to postpone vaccination against COVID-19, despite the improvement in the epidemiological situation. Only vaccinated citizens will help bring the end of the pandemic closer.
Akim of the city B. Sagintayev, recalled that in Almaty, they began to massively vaccinate the population against coronavirus on April 2. Then, for these purposes, the largest number of vaccination points in the country was deployed - 250, and not only on the basis of medical organizations, but also in schools, at cultural facilities, sports, markets and in shopping and entertainment centers. Today, 132 vaccination points continue to work in the city, 201 vaccination teams in the amount of 756 people are working in full mode.
B. Sagintayev believes that it was possible to interrupt most of the chains of the coronavirus infection and reduce the rate of spread of the disease thanks to the activity of more than a million Almaty residents who received vaccinations. Among them there are 24 654 law enforcement officers, 35 469 (100%) teachers, 38 935 (100%) health workers.
The akim of Almaty stressed that it is necessary to increase the rate of vaccination, since the pandemic is not over yet. He added that the situation with coronavirus both in the city and in the country, and around the world, is either improving or worsening. However, thanks to Almaty epidemiologists, virologists, doctors and medical personnel in Almaty, it was possible to direct the incidence of the disease to decline. Moreover, every resident of the city must help in the formation of herd immunity through vaccination.
Over the past day alone, more than 2,100 citizens received the first component of the vaccine. Since mid-November, previously unvaccinated groups of the population have also actively joined the vaccination against COVID. To date, 8496 people have been vaccinated with Pfizer's drug, including 529 pregnant women, 2026 lactating women and 5941 children.
B. Sagintayev recalled, that it is the vaccine that can reduce the risk of illness or serious complications after illness. This is especially important for the elderly. Everyone can get an inoculation without restrictions, especially since there are enough drugs for this in Almaty: 166,072 doses of the first component, 219,620 doses of the second component.
Also, in the city, from November 22, you can undergo revaccination. So far, the third doses of the vaccine against COVID are being received by health workers, teachers, law enforcement officers, personnel and contingent of medical and social institutions, people over 60 and others. To date, 315 people have been revaccinated. At the moment, you can revaccinate with inactivated vaccines: QazVac (RK), Vero Cell (China). The Ministry of Health of the Republic of Kazakhstan is negotiating the supply of the Sputnik Light vaccine. The second stage of revaccination for the rest of Almaty residents will begin in January 2022.
Despite the fact that the peak incidence of coronavirus in Almaty has already passed, new cases of infection continue to be recorded in the metropolis. Over the past day, 123 cases of coronavirus infection have been registered. There are 458 people in infectious diseases hospitals, of which 24 are children. In intensive care, 51 patients are fighting for their lives.
