Doctors of Almaty are confident that revaccination will strengthen herd immunity
During a press conference at the Regional Communications Service, Deputy Director of the Central Clinical Hospital of Almaty, Elvira Ibragimova shared what you need to know about the repeated vaccination of citizens, which will begin in the third decade of November.

According to E. Ibragimova, Almaty doctors support the idea of revaccination of the population against the coronavirus: until the herd immunity is fully formed, there is a real threat of the further spread of the infection, despite the stabilization of the epidemiological situation.
She recalled that COVID-19 easily transforms, mutates and multiplies, and therefore is dangerous.

Observations show that after six months the level of antibodies in the vaccinated decreases, which means that the likelihood of the disease increases.

“There is already an algorithm for revaccination of the population,” she said. - The procedure will be voluntary. Vaccinations can be obtained at any of the 137 vaccination points operating in the city. Citizens are advised to get the third coronavirus vaccine 6-9 months after the first course of vaccination is completed. It is not necessary to pre-determine the level of antibodies.

The revaccination will be carried out with the existing types of vaccines - "Sputnik V", QazVac, Vero Cell, currently there are a sufficient number of them in the city.
The doctor noted that revaccination can be carried out with any vaccine, but according to the recommendations of doctors, it is still better to do it with a different type: if the primary vaccination was an inactivated vaccine, then revaccination is better done with a vector and vice versa. Depending on the type of vaccine, revaccination can be carried out 6-9 months after the complete primary vaccination.

First of all, the categories of citizens vulnerable to coronavirus will begin to revaccinate: health workers, teachers, law enforcement officials, etc. Also, according to Ibragimova, doctors recommend revaccination for people with weak immunity, chronic diseases and the elderly.

Contraindications to revaccination are the same as in the primary vaccination, as well as possible adverse reactions.

At the same time, a person who has completed the first course of vaccination against coronavirus infection can be vaccinated against SARS and undergo revaccination, since these are completely different vaccines.

To date, 1,002,324 city dwellers have been vaccinated with the first component, and 940,084 with the second. Of all the vaccinated Almaty residents, 121,018 are over 60 years old.
