In Almaty, rescuers registered more than 148 thousand private houses during the heating season

The issues of ensuring the safety of the population during the winter period is one of the most important today. Samat Asainov, Deputy Head of the Department for Emergency Situations of Almaty, spoke about this at a briefing of the Regional Communications Service.

From the report of S. Asainov, it became known that in preparation for the heating period of 2021-2022, 148,346 private residential buildings in Almaty were registered, including 3148 heated with solid fuel and 30,395 frame-reed houses.

“Every year, even before the onset of the heating season, we carry out large-scale work among residents of the private sector. We warn you about the consequences associated with the operation of faulty electric heaters and stove heating. We carry out a door-to-door tour of private houses. We pay special attention to socially vulnerable groups of the population. This year, 1326 socially vulnerable families and 1876 persons belonging to citizens leading an asocial lifestyle have been registered, ”S. Asainov said.

Preventive talks about safety during the heating season were held with each family. According to the results of inspections, 354 houses are in unsatisfactory condition. Information about them was transferred to the regional akimats and the Department of Social Welfare for the provision of targeted social assistance.

In addition, the deputy head of the Emergency Situations Department of Almaty said that a “Helping Hand” campaign was held in the city, within the framework of which, targeted fire prevention assistance was provided to socially vulnerable groups of the population, stove chimneys were cleaned, cracks were repaired, walls were whitewashed in places where smoke channels pass, and 28 carbon monoxide sensors were installed. A total of 1288 private residential houses were equipped with solid fuel.

  1. Asainov added that employees of the Emergency Situations Service carefully check each house and conduct explanatory talks. Every family matters: human lives, often young children, are at stake. Private sector rounds are regularly carried out together with representatives of akimats, the production branch of KazTransGas-Aimak and volunteers. This year, more than 147 thousand inspections of residential buildings were carried out. Leaflets on fire safety measures, as well as safety measures when using household gas were handed over.

“During the courtyard rounds, more than 1000 violations of fire safety rules were revealed, the owners were given recommendations on how to eliminate the violations. To avoid such situations, we ask the owners to take the stove equipment of their home seriously, a specialist should check the state of the stove. Only he can make a correct assessment of her condition, ”S. Asainov said.

We add that this year, during the heating season in Almaty, 549 fires were recorded in the residential sector, which amounted to 60% of the total number of all fires. Material damage amounted to 16 million tenge. 5 people died, 14 were injured, two people died from carbon monoxide poisoning without a fire, 15 citizens were poisoned with carbon monoxide.

“The reasons for all the fires were ignorance of fire safety behavior and low social responsibility of citizens, as well as a high degree of deterioration of the housing stock. Approximately 25% of stoves in houses have a service life of more than 50 years, ”S. Asainov said.

The deputy head of the Emergency Situations Department added, that in Almaty, the number of houses with stove heating is decreasing, while the risks of death and natural gas poisoning are increasing. This year, 31 people were poisoned with natural gas, including 16 children.
