Discussion of the draft concept of anti-corruption policy took place in Almaty

Within the framework of a working visit to Almaty, the chairman of the Anti-Corruption Agency of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Marat Akhmetzhanov, took part in an expanded meeting of the Anti-Corruption Council chaired by the city akim, Bakhytzhan Sagintayev.

The meeting was attended by district akims, heads of state and law enforcement agencies, deputies, representatives of the public and the business community.

During the event, the head of the Anti-Corruption Service M. Akhmetzhanov spoke about the ongoing reforms in the field of combating corruption, placing special emphasis on the draft Concept of Anti-Corruption Policy for 2022-2026. As you know, the corresponding instruction was given by the President in his Address to the people of Kazakhstan.

According to M. Akhmetzhanov, one of the short stories of the concept is the introduction of responsibility for unjustified enrichment. He emphasized that the excess of expenses over income will already be a signal for the start of a financial audit.

The Chairman of the Agency noted that meeting the needs and expectations of citizens in the field of combating corruption is the primary task of the service. Also, recommendations were given on the implementation of anti-corruption compliance services in government agencies and internal monitoring. At the same time, the necessity of introducing anti-corruption standards in the business sphere was noted.

During the meeting, the speakers presented anti-corruption initiatives, discussed measures to improve approaches and considered the interim results of anti-corruption work in Almaty for 9 months of this year.

Following the meeting, the akim of Almaty B. Sagintayev instructed the supervising deputy akim of the city to take these recommendations into account when implementing the anti-corruption policy.
