The daily increase in COVID cases in Almaty since August 25 has decreased from 1.16 to 0.2%. In total, the decrease in the number of infections in the city was about 74%. Deputy Akim of Almaty, Yerzhan Babakumarov, announced this at a press conference of the Central Communications Service under the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
According to the deputy akim of Almaty, since the beginning of this year, more than 152 thousand cases of COVID have been registered (152 298). Of these, only from July 19 to October 6 of this year, registered 85,000 cases.
“In the summer of 2020 and early 2021, we overcame two waves associated with the Wuhan strain. In the spring of 2021 - a wave provoked by the alpha strain. On July 19, the most severe wave of infection caused by the delta strain began. Today we have come out of this wave, ”Y. Babakumarov noted.
From July 29 to August 25, Almaty was on the upper plateau of case registration (1500-1600 cases). From August 26 to the present, the decrease in infections continues - from 1600 to 423 on October 7.
“Comparative analysis shows the following. If during the first wave, the number of infected people in Almaty per day was 250, the second and third waves were about 400 and 700, then with the delta strain the level of infection per day was 1600 infections or more, ”said the deputy akim of the metropolis.
According to him, the number of ambulance calls at the peak of the delta more than doubled - to 4000, of which up to 45% were calls associated with COVID and pneumonia of covid etiology.
At the same time, the level of hospitalization during the fourth wave of COVID in hospitals increased more than 5 times.
If during the first wave, hospitalization per day was up to 250 people, during the second and third waves - up to 400-450, then during the fourth wave the hospitalization rate was twice as high and reached 800 patients per day.
