Yerzhan Babakumarov held a city collegium on the implementation of state policy in the field of religions
Deputy Akim of Almaty Yerzhan Babakumarov held the city collegium of the Department of Religious Affairs in an online format. The issues of implementation of state policy in the sphere of religions based on the results of 9 months of this year were considered.
At the same time, the Department of Religious Affairs, together with the public institution "Rukhani Zhagyru" and the branch of the Spiritual Administration of Muslims of Kazakhstan in Almaty, plans to work together to involve patrons in the special project "Tugan zher", aimed at citizens' participation in the development of their native land, solving social problems, including implementation of projects for the construction of social facilities, schools, medical facilities, as well as providing assistance to townspeople who find themselves in a difficult life situation.
The report was made by the head of the Department of Religious Affairs of Almaty N. Kikimov, the leadership of the subordinate organizations of the public institution "Center for the Study of Religious Issues", "Center for Consultation and Rehabilitation" was heard. Today, there are 184 registered religious associations in the city, which are represented by 17 confessions. There are 115 places of worship, incl. 52 mosques, 20 Orthodox churches and cathedrals. In the field of religions, 16 projects are being implemented this year, 10 NGOs and other organizations are involved.
In order to ensure interfaith harmony, the Club of Leaders of Religious Associations operates in Almaty. Various cultural, sporting events and gatherings are held that have a positive impact on the development of trusting relationships between representatives of confessions and government agencies.
To increase religious literacy, explain the secular principles of the population and the perniciousness of radical ideology, information and explanatory work is also being carried out. Since the beginning of the year, 507 events have been held with coverage of 63 thousand people, which is 80% more than in 2020. According to the results of a sociological study assessing the religious situation, the population's support for state policy in the sphere of religions is 89.1%.
As a result of the collegium, the deputy akim of the city Yerzhan Babakumarov, instructed to strengthen spiritual and explanatory work on strengthening interfaith harmony, as well as to strengthen interaction of state bodies with all interested organizations in countering extremism and terrorism.
