During the meeting, Akim of the city Bakhytzhan Sagintayev noted the importance of the transition of education to new standards, especially in the era of a pandemic:
“In many countries of the world, including Kazakhstan, in the field of digital education, only 50% of teachers use basic computer literacy. And only 13% of teachers have digital competencies. Therefore, in order to make the learning process modern, accessible, and, most importantly, understandable for children, the first city competition "Digital Ustaz Almaty" was launched, which is able to start the transformation of education in all schools of the republic. "
Co-organizer of the project, Representative of the Institute for the Development of Contemporary Education “EdCrunch Academy” Nurlan Kiyasov confirmed that according to the research, most teachers use outdated teaching methods. “Our distance education is, for the most part, a 'rush delivery' of content to the consumer. Moreover, to this day, not only in Kazakhstan, but also in the CIS countries, there is an inequality of information access to training. The competition is designed to unite all teachers by giving knowledge in the field of digital education from international experts. As a result, the city will receive a new motivating environment for each child and 100 new methods for teachers, ”the expert noted.
The idea of the project was also supported by Dinara Kulibayeva, Co-Chair of the Council, Director of the PF “Education Foundation of Nursultan Nazarbayev”, noting that the initiative to conduct Digital Ustaz will serve as a good incentive for teachers in Almaty.
Let us recall, that today more than one and a half thousand registered school teachers are trained by international experts in the framework of the first city competition “Digital Ustaz Almaty”. Created to popularize digital technologies in the process of school education, the competition will be held in 3 stages, during which teachers of grades 1-12 who have applied for participation will have to listen to webinars by industry experts, work out their own materials, lessons and master classes, as well as undergo training from the best experts in the world.
Within the framework of Digital Ustaz Almaty, teachers will learn the basics of SMM and blogging, digital security, and learn how to create infographics. In addition to drawing up content plans and working with media materials, teachers are recommended to use convenient applications and services, and colleagues, whose positive experience has already yielded results, share tips at webinars.
Less than two weeks are left before the deadline for accepting applications for the competition - already on October 1, 100 best teachers will be selected among the participants of Digital Ustaz Almaty, who will move to the second round, where they will develop a lesson using digital tools. And already in November, 30 teachers will be admitted to the finals, who will compete for an internship trip to Finland.
The project is held in honor of the 30th anniversary of Independence of the Republic of Kazakhstan and is organized by the Akimat of the city of Almaty, the Education Foundation of Nursultan Nazarbayev, the Institute of Contemporary Education EdCrunch Academy with the support of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
