Almaty is ahead of Kiev in the list of "smart" cities
Almaty has ensured the availability of digital services in key areas of the daily life of citizens. This was announced by the Head of the Digitalization Department Bayan Konirbayev during a press conference of the Regional Communications Service of Almaty

According to B. Konirbayev, Almaty is one of the leading group of cities in the CIS and Eastern Europe.

“The most important thing, when we talk about digitalization, we must understand that we must comply with the strategic management goals with the Almaty-2050 program and the Digital Kazakhstan program,” said the head of the Digitalization Department.

B. Konirbayev stressed that it is important for his department that the talents of the city of Almaty can find themselves through digital technologies and be in demand.

“At the end of 2021, we see that since 2017, in the digital maturity rating of the international data corporation, the city of Almaty has taken the position of 2.7 points. This is a fairly large figure that we have achieved over the past two years. This is a landmark event. For reference, in 2019 we stood at 10th place, and according to the latest results among the "smart" cities of the CIS, we are in 2nd place. That is, we are ahead of Kiev and are on the line after Moscow, ”said B. Konirbaev.

It should be noted that digital maturity is a key indicator of the degree of a city's readiness to implement digital solutions in its development. According to the speaker, digital transformation is a global goal, and digital maturity, as one of its key markers, must be achieved at all levels in all industries. In this case, the digital transformation process can be called successful.

“We began to strive not only to digitize the city, but to create comfortable conditions for our residents, create conditions for the development of talents and attract new technologies into our life activity,” continued B. Konirbayev.

During the press conference, the head of the Digitalization Department also spoke about the creation of an expert council at the level of each government department.

“These are the four main directions: infrastructure projects, city initiatives, assessment of public services, as well as the IT-council created on the initiative of the Almaty city akim Bakhytzhan Sagintayev,” B. Konirbayev emphasized.

Speaking about the main achievements of the digitalization of Almaty, the speaker recalled five achievements of the megapolis. This list includes the creation of a Unified Data Warehouse, a Unified Communication Space, infrastructural development of ICT in remote areas, economic clustering of city districts and Smart City Accelerator.

During his speech, B. Konirbayev spoke in detail about the project of the Unified Data Warehouse. Thanks to it, government agencies, commercial organizations and academic institutions will be able to exchange depersonalized data. The head of the Digitalization Department said that when developing the Unified Data Warehouse, they used the experience of Singapore, where government agencies at the national and local levels work in this way.

“We launched the platform and it showed itself very well. "Almaty Su" (water), heating networks and other utilities began to maintain a database format in a single standard. In fact, this is a great achievement, ”B. Konirbayev emphasized.

In general, the digitalization of urban processes leads to the rationalization of their management, which has a positive effect on the quality of life of Almaty residents, the speaker summed up. By the end of 2021, the Digitalization Directorate plans to collect data related to education, healthcare, and social protection. In order to understand, in a general format, what government agencies should pay attention to.
