Reconstruction of Dostyk and Zhibek Zholy begins in Almaty

So, on Zhibek Zholy Street, from June 13, the movement of vehicles from Zheltoksan to Nauryzbay batyr will be closed. The pedestrian zone is open on the north side of the street.

According to Dostyk Avenue, only the pedestrian zone at two sites on the east side downwards from Kurmangazy and Kabanbay batyr will be partially blocked. At the same time, all works on the modernization of public spaces will be carried out in stages and with minimal inconvenience for the citizens. Special fences and pedestrian ramps are installed.

As part of the “City for People” concept, energy-efficient pavement lighting, outdoor furniture, sports and children's playgrounds, fountain complexes, etc. will appear on these streets. Planned landscaping and planting new trees while preserving the existing ones, as well as building an automatic irrigation system.

This year it is planned to repair more than 600 courtyards, covering 50% of all urban high-rises. Medium repairs are carried out over 140 streets. New roads are being built on 456 streets in 14 city microdistricts. On the outskirts of the city, a number of parks, squares and pedestrian zones will be landscaped. In order to create a safe urban environment, new LED lamps will additionally be installed on more than 120 city streets.
