What streets of Almaty await reconstruction and overhaul
This year, more than 30 kilometers of roads in the Duman microdistrict will be overhauled. Currently, work has been completed on 21 streets with a length of more than 15 km. This was announced at a press conference of the Regional Communications Service by the head of the City Mobility Department Gani Murzakhanov.
By the end of 2021, 34 traffic lights, 70 regulated pedestrian crossings and about 70 unregulated ones with lighting are planned to be installed.
According to the speaker, new asphalt, ditches and sidewalks will appear on these streets. In addition, in Almaty, preparations are underway for repairs on the remaining 38 streets (15.1 km long). The work is planned to be completed by the end of September of this year.
Gani Murzakhanov added that Almaty road workers use two types of technologies when laying asphalt: using fine-grained and crushed stone-mastic asphalt.
The head of the City Mobility Department said that the completion the reconstruction of Kunaev street from Yassaui street to Ryskulov street in the Tausamaly microdistrict (1.2 km long) is planned for November.
“Currently, construction of three transport interchanges is underway. This year, it is planned to open traffic for vehicles at a traffic intersection at the intersection of Ryskulov ave. - Yemtsov st., next year it is planned to complete the construction of interchanges Seifullin Avenue - Zhansugurov st., Bukhtarminskaya st. - Kuldzhinsky tract ", - G. Murzakhanov noted.
The speaker also spoke about the construction of four street connections. By the end of the year, construction and installation work is planned to be completed and traffic for vehicles will be opened on Abay avenue, Alatau st. and Auezov st. In 2023, work is planned to be completed on Sain st.
In addition, this year, work is underway to build roads in eight microdistricts of Alatau, Turksib and Nauryzbaysky districts (microdistrict Uzhet, Shanyrak-5, Samgau, Algabas, Nurshashkan, Almerek, Kairat, Kuramys), including 415 streets with a length of 108 km. To date, the construction of roads on 132 streets with a length of 35 km have been completed. It is planned to complete 75 km of roads by the end of this year.
Gani Murzakhanov noted that the Department closely monitors the condition of all streets in Almaty, especially the main streets.
“Every 5 years we are replacing the road surface. Main streets with high speed of vehicles are under close scrutiny. These roads require special attention. Every year we determine the need for current, medium or major repairs. In the case of current repairs, we eliminate minor flaws, carry out patching, repair cracks. With an average repair, we achieve the original condition. This is the largest repair in terms of volume, ”said G. Murzakhanov.
The head of the City Mobility Department also spoke about the state of traffic lights. Today, there are 450 of them in Almaty. Last year, 93 were modernized, next year another 300 traffic lights are being modernized.
