During an online presentation on the TV Channel Almaty, the akim of the megapolis Bakhytzhan Sagintayev reported on the state of the engineering infrastructure, plans for the construction of new water supply and sewerage networks.
B. Sagintayev noted the uneven development of the engineering infrastructure, which is either absent in the annexed micro-districts on the city boundaries, or is in private hands. In this regard, the Comprehensive Development Plan "New Almaty" was adopted and is being implemented, which includes the development of engineering infrastructure in the annexed territories.
Today, Almaty is provided with water from 6 main sources with a design capacity of 1 million 377 thousand cubic meters per day. These are the rivers Bolshaya and Malaya Almatinka, Aksai, Kargaly (286.6 thousand cubic meters per day, or 21%), as well as underground water intakes of the Almaty and Talgar fields (376 wells, 1090.5 thousand cubic meters per day, or 79%). At the same time, the actual water consumption by residents of the city is 650 thousand cubic meters per day. Reserve - 700 thousand cubic meters of water per day.
Access to central water supply in the city is provided to 1.8 million residents, which is 91% of the total number of citizens. Private wells provide water to 7% of Almaty residents, which is 138.2 thousand people living in the Medeu, Nauryzbay, Alatau, Turksib and Zhetysu districts.
The length of water supply networks is 3.6 thousand km, of which almost 59% are worn-out pipes with a service life of more than 30 years and with a high rate of accidents. Most of the existing networks were built in the Soviet years, and due to the economic situation in the country in the 90s were without proper maintenance.
The length of sewerage networks is 1.8 thousand km, wear is almost 60%.
In 2020, in the microdistricts of Akbulak, Algabas, Almerek, Akzhar, Boraldai, Duman, Kuramys, Kargaly, Kemel, Kolsai, Kairat, Kokshoky, Muztau, Nurshashkan, Samgau, Tauzholy, Tastybulak, Shugyla, as well as on 89 streets of Zhety km of water supply networks and 140 km of sewerage. Almost 60 thousand private houses will be connected to them.
To maintain an uninterrupted water supply, 14.6 km of water supply and 1.8 km of sewerage networks were reconstructed last year.
Due to the shortage of water supply sources in the upper regions in the Nauryzbay district, a water intake structure "Kargaly" with a capacity of 15 thousand cubic meters per day is being built. The implementation of the project will provide water supply to 35.5 thousand residents in the microdistricts Kargaly, Karagaily, Tausamaly, Kuramys, Tastybulak.
The development of design and estimate documentation for the Aksai water intake facility with a capacity of 22 thousand cubic meters per day is also nearing completion. The project will provide water supply to 40 thousand residents of the microdistricts Tastybulak, Akzhar, Tauzholy, Shugyla.
It is also planned to complete the development of design and estimate documentation for the Ermensay water intake with a capacity of 9 thousand cubic meters per day. This will provide 22 thousand residents of the southeastern part of Bostandyk district, which includes microdistricts Ermensay, Nurlytau, Nuralatau, Remizovka.
At the moment, construction and installation work is underway on water supply networks with a length of 170 km in 23 micro-districts, such as Almerek, Algabas, Akzhar, Aigerim-1, 2, Boraldai, Kuramys, Kemel, Kairat, Kokshoky, Karasu, Kolsai, Kamenskoe plateau, Nurshashkan, Lower Pyatiletka, Terekty, Tausamaly, Tauzholy, Zhas Kanat, Uzhet, Shugyla, Shapagat, Shanyrak-1, Muztau, as well as on 89 streets of the Zhetysu district. By the end of the year, it is planned to connect 23.2 thousand houses to new networks. In the next two years - 36.5 thousand more houses.
As part of the implementation of the Comprehensive Plan "New Almaty", 140 km of sewerage networks will be built in 24 micro-districts. This year, it is planned to connect 23 thousand houses to the new networks. For 2022-2024, the connection of 36.7 thousand houses is planned.
