B. Sagintayev: Almaty is the largest IT center in the region
Akim of Almaty Bakhytzhan Sagintayev during a live broadcast on TV Channel "Almaty" spoke about the development of the direction of digitalization of the Strategy "Almaty-2050".
According to the city akim, effective management of a metropolis is impossible without digitalization tools. About 2 million people live in Almaty, within the boundaries of the Almaty agglomeration - 3 million. There are 287 thousand SMEs. The transport infrastructure includes more than 3 thousand km of roads. About 675 thousand cars move around the city every day. 165 thousand lighting poles are installed.
The city has a multilevel healthcare system. Every year, 11.5 million visits are recorded in the city's primary health care organizations.
The city is the educational center of the country, has a developed network of educational institutions. 288 thousand schoolchildren study in the city's schools.
Almaty is the center of innovative technologies in the region, where 40% of all students in the country study, where more than 30% of the best universities are located, 2622 IT companies (40% of the Republic of Kazakhstan), the volume of e-commerce reaches 551 billion tenge. Every second IT specialist in the country lives in Almaty, and almost 95% of citizens use online services.
“We have already become one of the leading cities in the region, but we have all the conditions for the city to take the main leading positions on the world map,” B. Sagintayev stressed.
The Smart city initiative is working to improve the management of urban resources and services. At the same time, the city's main assets remain citizens, processes and technologies. Among the priority sectors in need of intellectual modernization are public administration, city infrastructure, social environment and economy.
