Almaty is in the "yellow" zone: risks of infection with COVID-19 are high
The epidemiological situation in the city of Almaty remains tense, despite the transition to the "yellow" zone on June 1. This was announced by the head of the Department of Sanitary and Epidemiological Control Zhandarbek Bekshin, during an online press conference at the Regional Communications Service.

The chief state sanitary doctor of Almaty noted that in accordance with the criteria for the transition from the "red" to the "yellow" zone, the current restrictive measures remain with certain concessions, which come into force after 7 days.

Zh. Bekshin explained that the criteria for the "yellow" zone are the number R (infection rate), which is less than or equal to 1 (one) and the incidence rate per 100 thousand people, which is less than or equal to one hundred.

Currently, as of June 7, in Almaty, the incidence rate of COVID per 100 thousand population is 64.7, that is, less than 100, with the number R = 0.7.

As noted by Zh. Bekshin, the incidence of COVID decreased as a result of a set of restrictive measures. Specifically, thanks to the ban on mass events, the ban on the operation of markets, shopping and entertainment centers, catering, with the exception of summer grounds, on weekends in order to reduce social contacts, as well as a result of the vaccination of the population.
