More than 20 state kindergartens to be built in Almaty by 2023
Today, at the site of the Regional Communications Service of Almaty, the deputy head of the Education Department of the city, Kairat Zhumanov, spoke about the construction of kindergartens and schools in the metropolis. It is worth noting that during the pandemic, not a single construction project was stopped, so the construction of educational facilities is proceeding at an active pace.
According to Kairat Zhumanov, Almaty is actively developing and becoming more and more attractive for youth and young families. In this regard, the number of the population increases annually, the birth rate rises. In accordance with the order of the akim of the city B. Sagintayev, the accelerated construction of social facilities is underway in the megapolis.
As reported, as a result of demographic processes for 10 years, the number of preschool children in the city increased by 79 thousand children. In this regard, a special three-year program for the accelerated construction of educational facilities has been adopted. Therefore, last year, 4 state nursery-kindergartens for 670 places and 48 private preschool organizations for 1.3 thousand places were built. In addition, the construction of 4 state kindergartens for 640 places is underway. Also, after returning from a long-term lease and carrying out seismic reinforcement with a major overhaul, a public kindergarten for 315 places will open.
Small business is actively involved in reducing the shortage of preschool places. This year alone, 65 private kindergartens for 5 thousand places are planned to be opened. In addition, design and estimate documentation is being developed and places are being determined for the construction of 10 kindergartens for more than 2.3 thousand places.
Another important issue in early childhood education for parents is payment. The government has supported an initiative to partially pay off the budget for additional services in private kindergartens, which will make them more affordable.
As an alternative solution, the issue of determining the criteria in the form of a voucher mechanism for families whose children are in the queue is considered - low-income families, large families, young families, disabled parents, single mothers.
Preparatory work is already underway and this mechanism will be implemented for the first time in Almaty, which will additionally cover 5 thousand children with preschool education.
K. Zhumanov elaborated on projects for the construction of kindergartens. Hence, this year in the Nauryzbay district, the construction of two kindergartens for 240 children will be completed in the Akzhar and Tausamaly microdistricts. To note, there were no kindergartens here before. The shortage of places in preschool institutions in the Bostandyk district will decrease, where a kindergarten for 120 places will be built.
“New micro-districts are actively developing in Almaty, including Zhas Kanat, of the Turksib district. There are already two kindergartens here, attended by over 600 children. However, this microdistrict continues to grow, so it was decided to build another kindergarten for 280 children on the territory of the new microdistrict, ”said Kairat Zhumanov.
Also, work is underway to open kindergartens on the basis of the vacated premises. This year, a kindergarten for 315 children, which was previously rented, will open in the Auezov district. Currently, major repairs are being completed there.
“In the Orbita microdistrict of the Bostandyk district, we are planning to open two state kindergartens in the building of a former orphanage, each of which will be designed for 320 places,” K. Zhumanov said.
In addition, another kindergarten with the same design capacity - 320 places - will be built near the airport. A public kindergarten for 280 children will be built from scratch on Ratushnogo street in the Zhetysu district.
In general, this year in Almaty, 65 private kindergartens for 3250 places and 5 state kindergartens for 955 places are planned to be opened.
