B. Sagintayev: The safety of tourists is ensured in Almaty
Akim of the megapolis Bakhytzhan Sagintayev, during a live broadcast on the “Almaty” TV channel, spoke about measures to ensure the safety of city guests and the improvement of mountain routes.
For the safety of tourists, cellular coverage areas will be expanded. In addition, 2 control and rescue points will be built in the Small and Big Almaty gorges, a helipad in the Tuyuk-su tract, 15 huts to shelter tourists on remote junctions of mountain routes. Also, 10 radio relay masts with panic buttons for transmitting a signal to rescue teams will be installed.
Every second guest of the city is a foreign tourist. Despite the pandemic, 163 thousand foreign guests visited Almaty last year. The most popular type of recreation among residents and guests of the city is hiking in the mountains. Against the backdrop of the pandemic, visits to mountainous areas have quadrupled.
As Bakhytzhan Sagintayev noted, the necessary conditions are being created for the safe and comfortable pastime of residents and guests of the city. Therefore, the infrastructure in mass recreation areas is being put in order: in the mountains and national parks.
One thousand km of mountain hiking trails have been digitized, 500 km of trails have been landscaped.
The work of visit centers was launched in Shymbulak and Medeu. Similar centers have opened in the Ayusai gorge and near the Gorelnik thermal spring. 4 points of the tourist police have been opened in Medeu, Republic Square, at the International Airport and near the Palace of the Republic.
