B. Sagintayev: The level of security in Almaty is growing every year
The akim of the megapolis Bakhytzhan Sagintayev, during a live broadcast on the "Almaty" TV channel spoke about the measures to ensure public safety of the city.
The akim of the city stressed that it is necessary to create an atmosphere of zero tolerance for offenses in the city. Therefore, it is necessary to fight not only with the effect, but also with the causes. Social security agencies need to carry out appropriate preventive work with the contingent prone to crime. We need preventive conversations, monitoring, assistance in integration into society, and where necessary - the adoption of strict response measures. As you know, the overwhelming majority of persons who have committed offenses are, as a rule, either unemployed citizens, or persons who find themselves in a difficult life situation, or illegal migrants.
B. Sagintayev stressed that security is one of the seven strategic guidelines outlined in the Strategy "Almaty-2050" for the coming period.
The task is to make Almaty a city with a low level of crime and threats of emergency situations, where residents and guests of the city can feel safe in any area and at any time, and parents can calmly let their children go to school or go out with friends.
The level of safety has been increasing every year. For example, the Strategy indicates the indicator “Crime rate per 100 thousand people”, which in 2020 should be 3260, and in 2025 - 2835. In fact, in 2019 and 2020 this indicator was 2889 and 1457.9, respectively. According to the indicator "The number of fatal accidents per 100 thousand people" in the Strategy, it was planned to reach the indicator of no more than 4.6 by 2030. In fact, in 2020, the figure was reached - 4.2.
Since 2019, on behalf of the akim of Almaty B. Sagintayev, 37 new modular stationary police posts have been organized in the most criminally prone areas. 7 more such posts will be installed this year. Increased patrolling in crime areas and the creation of mobile police stations have significantly improved the situation.
At the end of 2020, crime has decreased by almost 2 times (by 47.8%). The number of offenses recorded in public places is 3.4 times less, street crime has been reduced by 4.2 times. Also, crime detection in hot pursuit has been improved by 12.3%. According to the results of 4 months of this year, crime in the city decreased in all directions by 21.3%.
The role of district inspectors has been strengthened, who are tasked with helping citizens and guests of the city in resolving emerging issues. Every adult Almaty resident should know his own precinct by sight.
