The main objective of the agreement will be cooperation in the field of economics, entrepreneurship, energy, urbanism, digitalization, green economy and agglomeration development.
In addition, the concept of a draft law on the development of agglomerations will be jointly developed, within the framework of which it is planned to regulate relations arising in the process of management, state support and, in general, the functioning of agglomerations.
Deputy Akim of Almaty, Ilyas Userov, thanked the World Bank Group for their intention to contribute to the further development of the city and the Almaty agglomeration.
Vice Minister of National Economy, Alisher Abdykadyrov, stressed that the memorandum will give a new impetus to joint work and contribute to the development of the region.
“The World Bank will work with partners to support the development of urban transport, green urban landscapes and circular economy approaches and air pollution abatement activities,” said Jean-François Marteau, World Bank Country Manager for Kazakhstan. "We are ready to promote the application of global experience and best practices at the level of the public and private sectors, to support the leadership of Almaty in their efforts to make the city green and competitive, comfortable for people to live and attractive for doing business."

IFC advised the Almaty Akimat on obtaining an international credit rating from Fitch Ratings, which set the stage for continuing to issue the first municipal green bonds in Central Asia to fund green infrastructure improvements.
