During an online presentation of plans for the improvement and landscaping of the city, the head of the Green Economy Department of Almaty, Natalya Livinskaya, said that this year, the approaches to the formation and planning of park zones were changed, and also focused on specific projects. The new urban planning policy is the formation of self-sufficient centers in every district of the city.
 
Airport lake in the Turksib district
N. Livinskaya spoke about the project of arrangement of the airport lake located in the Turksib district.
“Last year, the first stage of the improvement of the unique asset of the city was carried out, the Zheltoksan park was created. This year, we continue to improve the area, including the shore by the lake, a grove and a ravine across Bukhtarminskaya street, ”she said. The construction of the park area will begin at the end of April.
 
Public spaces in the Alatau district

Last year, the district akimat carried out the 1st stage of improvement, she said. “We are planning to create a new place for the whole family of 63 hectares, continuing the planting and organization of playgrounds and sports grounds.
A large-scale project has begun in the microdistrict Ozhet. The area around the lake is planned to be improved.
After analyzing the territories and creating the first concepts, meetings with residents will be held in order to take into account the wishes of everyone. The construction of the network will begin this year.
 
Public spaces in the Zhetysu district
In the work on the formation of new recreation areas for residents of the Zhetysu district - 2 park areas in the microdistricts Kokmaisa and Kemel. These will be completely new parks, now these are unsightly places where no one goes, as it is dangerous there.

The focus is on creating a green corridor in the city. For the connectivity of important city assets of the city, the improvement of the embankment of the Ulken Almaty river is planned. The length is 7.5 km from the Park of the First President to Sairan. The design will also be completed by the end of this year, discussions of this project will be held jointly with the Sairan and the Park of the First President projects.

The start of construction work was last year. We have found solutions to strengthen the river channel without increased interference with nature. The construction of 4 km will be completed by the fall of this year. It is planned to bring the pedestrian part to the Medeo Park so that residents can easily walk from their house to the mountains.

Urban Arboretum
It is proposed to create a new recreational zone on the territory of the sports complex - the city Arboretum. Arboretum assumes a combination of directions - a recreation park in the city center, a tourist destination with a 360 ° view of the city's landscapes and mountains, which will become a point of attraction for professional communities and the pride of residents.
The main feature of the project is the use of the existing topography of the hill with minimal interference. Using the existing slopes, a comfortable infrastructure will be created, a unique landscaping will be carried out using rare, Red Book plants. The natural and recreational complex will be included in the system of specialized parks in Almaty, diversifying and filling the infrastructure for the leisure of residents and guests of the city.
