More than 180 thousand Almaty residents took part in the Public Saturday Day of the city
The Botanical Garden was established in 1932 in an area of 104 hectares. It has the largest and the unique collec tion funds of living plants in Kazakhstan. There grow s 2 235 taxon s and 255 thousand higher vascular plants. There are about 100 thousand samples of mushrooms and lichens.
In order to support this unique entity the Almaty city’s governor has established a working group "The Main Botanica l Garden ’s Development Fund " together with the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan . The reconstruction project was developed by the Fund’s budget with the involvement of the international architectural and design company ‘’ Lord Cultural Resources ’’. The main idea of the concept is : "Botanical garden of the XXI century - a garden of new technologies."
The Directorate of the RSE " Botany Institute and Phyto-Intr oduct ion" is plan ning to carry out the works on improvement of the garden territory this year i.e. to restore sidewalks, to install lighting together with the Foundation. The questions of the watering system ’s restoration of green plantations and an additional entrance gro up’s organization from Al-Farabi avenue are also being studied.
In general, more than 44 km of river channel s and river banks, 209 km of irrigation ditch networks have been clea n ed within the framework of city ’s Public Saturday Day. 3 thousand meters of fence’s p ainting, 182 supports, 624 benches, more than 1 thousand urns and other elements of improvement were done. 763 items of special equipment of municipal services of the city were in volved in removal of the collected garbage, 8915 m3 of garbage s were taken out.
Green areas, incl uding the Parks of 28 Panfilov guardsmen, Druzhby, Halyk, Family, Bukhar Zhyrau b oulevard, ARO park squares, Sats Youth Theater, Shughla Cinema, groves in Mayak Village, Saki Barrows, Lake Sayran and the Airport, embankments of the Bolshaya and Malaya Almatinka rivers, Esentai, the Kunaev LHC have been c lean ed .
Wastes have been clea n ed between the streets of Rozybakiev and Gagarin north of Al-Farabi avenue, along Spasskaya street, Momyshuly - Akyn Sara, in md. Kokzhiek, Karagaili, Akzhar, Kuramys, lairs on the street Bekmakhanova, 77, in m.Ainabulak-2.
The most mass participation of residents in the cleaning of yard territories w as recorded in the microdistricts Sayaly, Darkhan, Algabas, Altyn besik, Zhetysu-3, Aksay-1, md. №6,7, Aynabulak, Kulager, Kokzhiek, Kalkaman, and others.
Massive planting of green plantations have been in the public gardens along Baitursynov-Zhambyl street, in Aksay-4 microdistrict, in the central park of culture and rest, in Mayak settlement, in the courtyard areas of Bostandyk district and in Kokhiek microdistrict and in the territories of Alatau and Nauryzbaysky districts. The total number of planted trees w ere 3325 pieces. During the spring period it is planned to plant totally more than 10 thousand trees of deciduous and coniferous species.
