More than 600 streets of Almaty will be illuminated this year
In Almaty, a reporting meeting of the city akim Bakhytzhan Sagintayev with city residents is taking place, during which the issue of street lighting was clarified.

During the meeting, a resident of the Zhetysu district addressed the issue of lighting problems in the Kemel microdistrict.

“Work on street lighting is underway. There are 600 unlit streets left in the city. In the first half of the year, these streets will be fully illuminated. The funds have been allocated, the contractors have started work, ”Bakhytzhan Sagintayev said.

A decision was made to install outdoor lighting lines under the current PPP agreement. In 2020, 1423 streets on the outskirts of the city were illuminated (Alatau, Nauryzbay, Zhetysu, Turksib districts). The remaining 601 streets are planned to be illuminated by the end of 2021. Also, in all areas of the city where work is underway on the construction of engineering networks, after the completion of these works, lighting will be carried out.

The modernization of the outdoor lighting line includes the replacement of the existing energy-consuming housing and communal services (sodium) lamps with energy-saving LED lamps, which can save up to 15% of consumed electricity, as well as laying an underground cable to increase the uninterrupted operation of the LNO and replacing old supports.

In 2020, modernization was carried out on 7 streets: Dostyk ave., Sain ave., Momyshuly, Shalyapin St., Zhansugurova St., Northern Ring highway, Gagarin St.

Regarding courtyard lighting, it should be noted that at the moment, the department has developed a design and budget documentation, within the framework of which unlit courtyards requiring lighting were counted with further plans of implementation. Today the project is at the stage of examination.
