At the reporting meeting of the city akim Bakhytzhan Sagintayev, preliminary results of work on long-term tasks and plans to improve the environmental situation of the metropolis were announced.
Last year, a long-term problem with the modernization and transfer of CHPP-2 to natural gas was solved. Complete gasification of the private sector is nearing completion. Large-scale work is underway to increase the green fund. A three-year program "Zhasyl Almaty" was adopted to plant one million trees. In 2020, more than 282 thousand green spaces were planted.
Public transport is being converted to gas and electricity.
A ban on the purchase of diesel equipment has been introduced. The municipal vehicle fleet "Almatylectrotrans" signed a contract for the supply of 150 buses. The first 41 buses have entered the routes, the remaining 109 will arrive shortly. In addition, private carriers are planning to purchase 83 buses, including 38 electric buses. Thus, this year we will renew the passenger transport fleet by 233 units of environmentally friendly transport.
As part of improving the ecology of the city, this year, 350 thousand green spaces are planned to be planted, as well as the construction of five new parks in the outskirts, the installation of 19 eco-posts at the entrances to the city.
Last year, for the purpose of informing the population about the city, 10 sensors for monitoring the condition of the air were installed. 10 more sensors will be installed this year. The data is displayed on LED screens and fed into a single database of environmental data displayed on an online map. The stations measure the volume of pollutants in the atmosphere, as well as parameters of humidity, temperature, pressure, wind direction and speed. The average values for the period and the average daily MPC are displayed. The goal of the project, implemented on behalf of the akim of Almaty B. Sagintayev, is to provide ordinary citizens, experts and specialists with data in an online format.
Along with measures to convert the public and communal vehicle fleet to environmentally friendly fuels, the possibility of limiting the movement of transit trucks is being studied. The monitoring showed that more than 17 thousand units of freight transport enter the city every day, which exerts a man-made burden sustained by the environment.
