B. Sagintayev: Despite the pandemic, the growth of the economy of Almaty is ensured
At a reporting meeting with the population, the Akim of Almaty Bakhytzhan Sagintayev emphasized that by the end of 2020, the economic indicators of the megapolis increased.
Over 2.4 million square meters of housing were commissioned in Almaty last year. The volume of investments in fixed assets reached 971.2 billion tenge with an increase in physical volume by 17.2%. 76.3 thousand new jobs have been created, of which 46.3 thousand are under state programs. Almost 50 thousand jobs are planned to be created this year. Particular attention will be paid to social support. About 28 thousand people with disabilities will be provided with rehabilitation and social services.
According to the data voiced in the documentary film about the results of the socio-economic development last year, the stabilization of the sanitary and epidemiological situation in terms of COVID, allowed for growth in the basic sectors of the Almaty economy. Thus, in the industrial sector growth was provided by 4.6%, the volume of construction work increased by 10.6%, the commissioning of housing - by 14.2%, the volume of communication services increased by 8.2%.
“We didn’t allow the negative scenario to come true and came out with the growth of almost all economic indicators. We have ensured that the decline in trade, transport and warehousing was offset by growth in other sectors of the economy. Moreover, we managed to give impetus to the development of new promising sectors - digitalization and smart industry, creative economy and tourism, ”B. Sagintayev emphasized.
