At a reporting meeting with the population, Akim of Almaty Bakhytzhan Sagintayev spoke about what helped stop the explosive spread of the coronavirus infection.

The reporting meeting of B. Sagintayev "Almaty Dialogue 2.0" is being held in an online format. The documentary showed how the city lived and fought in 2020, what Almaty managed to achieve and what Almaty will work on in the coming year.

“Indeed, last year was the year of overcoming challenges. For every one of us. The global pandemic has dramatically changed the life of our society. Influenced our mentality, way of life. The pandemic had a social and economic shock. But our Almaty solidarity, expressed in the words "Almaty birgemiz", helped us curb the pandemic ", - said the city akim Bakhytzhan Sagintayev.

In order to prevent large-scale infection of city residents, the Akimat of Almaty abandoned non-priority costs and optimized the budget, allocating 108.4 billion tenge to fight COVID-19. As a result of this, two modular clinics were built in a short time, the construction of an infectious hospital on RV-90, a pathological anatomical bureau was completed. The material and technical base of clinics has been strengthened by 41.8 billion tenge. In order to prevent a shortage of medical supplies and medicines, 10 billion tenge has been allocated from the city budget to create the Stabilization Fund. Of these, 5 billion - to provide pharmacies, 5 billion - for hospitals and clinics.

An important decision was the strengthening of emergency and primary health care services. Every day, remote 103 received up to four thousand calls from townspeople. As part of the three-year city plan for providing medical services within walking distance, 16 outpatient clinics have already been commissioned. The ambulance service is provided with new reanimobiles. 135 ambulances equipped with modern equipment were purchased.

A personnel reserve has been formed. The salaries of medical workers have been increased by 30%. Wage allowances for over 50 thousand medical personnel were paid in the amount of 16.7 billion tenge. A Telemedicine Center was established to provide remote consulting assistance to the townspeople.

As a result of effective anti-crisis measures, it was possible to prevent an explosive increase in morbidity, mortality and gain time before vaccination began. On February 1, 2021, a large-scale vaccination campaign for the population began in Almaty.

“The city is coping with the pandemic with dignity. Today Almaty is in the "green" zone. This means that the system we have created and the measures taken are working, "said B. Sagintayev, noting that the vaccination against COVID-19 that has begun, will help normalize life in the city and will contribute to the post-pandemic economic recovery.
