Nowadays according to the initiative of the State’s Head, the system modernization is carried out in the country. All the years of Independence, we are on the path of nation-formation on the basis of civil identity. As the Head of State told in the last session of the People’s Assembly of Kazakhstan, the "Nation" is the all citizens of Kazakhstan, regardless of nationality. Our Constitution guarantees the equal rights of all citizens, regardless of race, ethnicity, religion or social belonging. A stable foundation of the civil nation’s development is the national idea "Mangilik El". Almaty is the largest metropolis with a multi-ethnic group. There lives the representatives of more than 100 ethnic groups. It is not a coincidence that we call our favourite city is the city of thousands’ colors. We pay the big attention to the inter-ethnic sphere and it is important for us to preserve cultural diversity. Only the cities that are open to people of different nationalities, cultures, religions can be considered modern, B. Baibek said.

According to the Almaty’s governor speech, another important initiative of Elbasy is the program "Tugan zher" or "Malaya Rodina". It is one of the aspects of philanthropy.

"Charity has already become a good tradition for Almaty’s residents. During the last two years more than 100 children's sports grounds, a large number of kindergardens, and a school in the Medeu district have been built by the sponsor’s funds. The construction of another school and a polyclinic is nearing completion. Within the framework of the 1000th anniversary of Almaty, a large-scale action of "1000 good deeds" has been held for the support to veterans, disabled people and orphans. A big charity work is carried out by the People’s Assembly of Kazakhstan.

Only last year, ethno-cultural associations organized more than 90 events outreached more than 100 thousand people within the framework of the "Caravan of Mercy". The Assembly makes charitable actions "Kamkor", "Road to school", "Day of the old man."

Kazakhstan’s estrade stars and representatives of urban ethno-cultural associations have come out on the stage during the event. The program has included the composition of Atameken in the performance of Parviz Nazarov, “Zhasa Kazakhstan!”, Kairat Nurtas, “Men, Sen, Barimiz” and “My Homeland “ in the performance of the Saryn group, the performance of the Korean traditional dance Namson, Almaz Altynbekov , The group "Gaukhartas", the ballet show "Rice", Shahnoza Matnazarova with Uzbek dance, Naily from Armenia, etc. Besides this, the choir "Turetskogo" will take part in the concert, which will stage the national karaoke "Song Festival" with the performance of it in the Kazakh language.

During the holiday, each ethno-cultural association has demonstrated its culture and the national traditions. Tents were organized for it with an exhibition of national costumes, arts and crafts and folk crafts, musical instruments, etc. The exhibition has also included master classes and interactive sessions with spectators.

The festival of national cuisines and restaurants has become a platform for representing the culinary art of Kazakhstan’s people. The food court zone was organized where everyone could try festive treats and traditional dishes of different ethnic groups.

It should be noted that festive events are traditionally held in all 8 districts of the city.
