Akim of Almaty Bakhytzhan Sagintayev announced the completion of the project to transfer analogue television broadcasting to digital.
In his Instagram account, the akim of the city noted that with the beginning of a new stage of digitalization, analog broadcasting remains in history.
“We have completed the transition to digital terrestrial television. During the stage-by-stage implementation of the project, 90 digital radio and television stations were put into operation in Almaty and the region. This made it possible to cover 736 settlements with digital terrestrial television broadcasting, where more than 3.8 million people live, "wrote B. Sagintayev.
The digital standard will increase the broadcasting share of domestic TV channels and provide equal access to the country's information resources. Instead of the previous 4-5, it will be possible to choose from about 30 Kazakhstani TV channels. At the same time, there is no need to install expensive satellite dishes, no need to pay to the cable operator. Citizens from socially vulnerable categories are provided with signal receivers by the Akimat, free of charge.
The official ceremony of switching to digital was held at the Koktobe TV tower, which is the highest in the country, and provides digital signal coverage, not only for the territory of Almaty, but also for 200 nearby settlements. And that makes up 40% of the residents of the Almaty region.
