Mayor of Almaty congratulated Almaty residents with Eid al-Adha

Mayor of Almaty Baurzhan Baibek congratulated the citizens on the sacred holiday of Eid al-Adha and made a prayer in the Central Mosque of the metropolis.

In his congratulatory speech, the Mayor noted that due to inter-ethnic and inter-confessional conciliation, Kazakhstan has achieved great results for 25 years of its independence.

"Islam is one of the most peaceful religions. It calls for unity, friendship, and mercy. It is customary to take good deeds, help the needy, visit relatives on Eid al-Adha. So, let this day bring all of us joy, health, and well-being ", B. Baibek said.

The Mayor also stressed the importance of preserving the traditions of the ancestors and explaining them to the young people in order to protect the younger generation from non-traditional religious movements.

It is to be recalled that there are 47 functioning mosques in Almaty today.
