The prize-winners of Olympic Games Dmitriy Balandin and Dariga Shakimova were awarded in Almaty

The champion of the Olympic Games - the swimmer Dmitriy Balandin and bronze medallist in boxing Dariga Shakimova were awarded keys to off-roaders and apartments by the Mayor of Almaty Bauyrzhan Baibek today in Almaty .

In the course of the event B.Baibek congratulated the sportsmen on behalf of all Almaty citizens with their victory in the Olympic Games 2016 in Rio-de-Janeiro.

“All Kazakhstan citizens were cheering you and your victory. I congratulate you on your victory with all my heart. I want to express gratitude to your parents who brought you up . Almaty is the city, which is very good for sport and our nature contributes to its development. If we want to join the top 30 of the most successful countries we should aim for sporty lifestyle. We were moving step by step to the results we have already achieved. We are proud of you”,  -  the Mayor of megalopolis said.

Thus, D.Balandin was presented with 3-roomed flat in Almaly district of Almaty. The bronze medallist in boxing D.Shakimova was presented with 1-roomed flat in Medeu district. According to the law on physical culture and sports of RK the sportsmen who win gold medals in the Olympic Games, the Paralympic Games and the Deaflympics are presented with three-roomed flats, whereas bronze medalists are awarded one-roomed flats by the state. Besides, the coaches of the winners – Alexei Kazakov and Vladimir Prisyazhnyuk were awarded 3 and 2 million KZT, respectively.

All in all Kazakhs won the record number of medals – 17 in the XXXI Summer Olympic Games in Rio , among them 3 gold medals, 5 silver and 9 bronze medals. At the same time the record in the number of gold medals remains after the Olympics in London, where 7 of them were won by the Kazakhs. Sport delegation of Kazakhstan was represented by 104 sportsmen in 26 kinds of sports.
