A new director of passenger transport and highways department of Almaty was appointed

The primary task of the new head of the department will be to ensure the quality and timely repair of urban roads. Over the last year in the metropolis, about 180 km of roads and more than 700 km of engineering networks have been built and renovated. In the current year, 157 streets with a length of 155 km are planned to be repaired, several interchanges and pylons of the main streets are being built.

Within the framework of the "city for pedestrians" principle, repair and construction of new sidewalks with a length of more than 30 km began. In turn, Bauyrzhan Baibek instructed the new head of the administration to carry out an appropriate update of the pedestrian paths for the forthcoming repair of all 157 streets of the city. In addition, the sidewalks will be inspected for illegal seizure by various annexes that impede the movement of pedestrians.

The Almaty city’s governor gave the specific instructions for further modernization of the city's transport system. Last year the bus fleet of the city was renewed by 30%. Taking into account the private carriers this year, it is planned to purchase about 600 new buses, which will allow upgrading the city's autopilot.
