The Mayor of Almaty Bauyrzhan Baybek has familiarized himself with the process of building of the 2 nd turn of the Special Economic Zone “Park of Innovation Techniques” on the territory of the Medeu district, where 140.3 hectares are going to be developed. As of today, 70% of utility have been built and 9.04 billion tenge have been drawn as well. This year it is planned to finish the building of the infrastructure for 4.45 billion tenge.
In particular, the Mayor visited the building site of the educational and training center for training personnel in the oil and gas industry, geology, and geophysics, which is located on the territory of the Special Economic Zone “Park of Innovation Techniques”. The area of the territory is 1 hectare, the building area is 912.3 square meters; the estimated cost of the project is 400 million tenge. Drill Sim is a unique to Central Asia and Europe complex; as of today, it only exists in Texas, the USA. This educational complex makes it possible to simulate real processes occurring in drilling and well repair, including accidents, as well as to administer psychological compatibility tests for the drilling crews and personnel. So, after this center in Almaty is launched, the experts from Central Asia, Europe, and the CIS will be involved into the Kazakh students’ training.
“It is to say that, while we can train only 20 people today, with the use of Drill Sim we will be able to train up to 100 people. This is a simulator, so we will be learning everything that is connected with drilling, such as emergency situations, the drilling process itself, exploring and geological prospecting. All companies working in Kazakhstan send their personnel to train abroad, but now our students are going to be trained here in our country. Almost 100% of our students become employed”, - the Director General of the “Institute of Oil and Gas Engineering and Information Technologies KBTU” Zhanat Khasenov said.
The Mayor was also presented with the project of the future native marine academy. As of today, about 25 students per year study this specialization at the KBTU; 85 cadets have been trained for the last 4 years there. On July 1 of this year, there will be the first graduates specializing in ship engineering and navigation; besides, 90-95% of cadets will be employed. According to
Zh. Khasenov, foreign specialists are going to be replaced with the Kazakh students and personnel trained in the marine academy.
