It should be noted that one of the most important principles of the Almaty Development Program until 2020 is the care of every person, which provides for a large set of measures to develop the city's healthcare.

So, the last 5 years, the city's health budget has increased to 60%, amounting to almost 95 billions tenge this year, life expectancy for the first time exceeded 76 years, total mortality reduced by 14%, infant mortality reduced by 33%. Reduced mortality from diseases such as tuberculosis - by 38%, malignant neoplasms - by 20%.

The city is developing medical infrastructure. Last year only 5 new medical facilities were commissioned in Almaty: 2 polyclinics in the Nauryzbay district, a polyclinic of the city clinical hospital №5 in Medeu district and a modern warehouse of vaccines and immunobiological preparations totaling KZT 4.8 billions.

Also, today in the Bostandyk district, a modern centralized laboratory has been opened in which all necessary types of research will be carried out: molecular genetic, immuno-enzymatic and immunochemical, parasitological, microbiological, serological, biochemical, general clinical, etc. The centralized laboratory is equipped with state-of-the-art equipment that allows not only identify microorganisms using standardized biochemical tests, but also determine their sensitivity to antibiotics. A year at the new facility with a special degree of accuracy will be conducted up to 500 thousand laboratory tests.

In addition, in 2017, construction of 9 more facilities was started for a total of KZT 11.3 billions. Of these, this year it is planned to pass five. Medical tourism is also actively developing in the city. So, in the city clinics only from the beginning of this year almost 2 thousand foreigners from 50 countries of near and far abroad were treated. USA, Turkey, China and other countries specialists visit to the city for medical assistance.

As part of the digitalization of this sphere, today all medical organizations of the city actively use information systems. Since June 1, a partial transition to paperless maintenance of accounting records for 30 forms has been carried out. By September 1 of this year, it is planned to completely switch to e-health and create electronic health passports for the entire population of the city.
