In Almaty there will be the first international film festival "Almaty Film Festival"

"Almaty Film Festival" is a culturological project that aims to develop international cooperation of filmmakers and attract international film projects to the city of Almaty. This is an opportunity to promote the image of the city at the international level as a cultural and tourist center of the Republic.

Within the framework of the film festival, there are the rich 5-day programs. The opening ceremony of the film festival will include a "red carpet", which will host the stars of both the domestic and world film industry, a festive concert, the award ceremony "For Contribution to the Development of Cinematography." The closing ceremony of the film festival will include summing up the results of the film festival, awarding prizes to winners for their film works.

The main competition theme is "Rapprochement of Cultures". It will be presented by the films of 2018, which are co-products of two or more countries. The competition will include both films of co-products of countries that have already developed multi-year partnerships, and which have been presented at international film festivals, as well as films of rare co-products.

The films of the main contest will be nominated and will receive prizes in the following categories: "Grand Prix", "For Best Director's Work", "For the Best Performance of a Male Role", "For the Best Performance of a Woman's Role", "Special Jury Prize".

Also, non-competitive programs will be presented: "Cultural and natural heritage, tourism and sports", "City in motion", "Children's and family cinema", "Almaty Vine Fest".

On the fields of the festival, a business forum is planned, within the framework of which round tables, panel discussions, master classes, etc. will be held.

Among the guests and the jury will be representatives and representatives of international and local associations, distribution media companies, representatives of world film companies, public figures, as well as Kazakhstan’s actors and directors.
