How the reconstruction of Almaty influenced to the development of SMB

If before the reconstruction of Panfilov and Zhibek Zholy the monthly business turnover was about 25 millions tenge, then after the street’s modernization it increased to 37 millions tenge. In its turn, the building’s attendance grew for 40%.

At Arbat this indicator also increased almost for two times. That is, less than a year, only two street’s trade and catering object’s number has grown from 26 to 43.

Vadim Golenko, the general director of the company "Meloman", also told about the effect of Almaty reconstruction on the business quality.

"Our store has been working at the corner of Gogol-Panfilov since 2001. Over these years, people first went to street retail, then to shopping malls, and today even to super malls. And here we have a story that goes against all this statistics. After the reconstruction we had an unpredictable growth in book’s sales. We have many shops around the country that are in street retail, but what you have done with Panfilov can not be compared to any other city in Kazakhstan, "said Vadim Golenko.

According to him, to read a book on the bench of the renovated Panfilov absolutely corresponds to what people see abroad.

"Today, walking around Panfilov is already a cultural and aesthetic event and the format of the books fits perfectly into this image. Moreover, we can say that Panfilov has become an element of tourist attraction. We have even increased the sale of literature in English. This indicates that foreign visitors began to appear. I know that when Panfilov's street was being repaired, we lost sales, but we realized that this was temporary. The direction that the city authorities have chosen brings real and good results. In this case, thankful feedback from our shop's customers, "he added.

We remind you that this year in Almaty, the reconstruction of the historic center of the city continues. If last year they modernized the streets of Panfilov, Zhibek Zholy, Gogol, Kabanbai batyr, Tolebayev, Bayseitova and Astana Square, this year the repair covers Abay, Abylai han, Dostyk, Nazarbayev, Zheltoksan, the station area Almaty 2 and square in front of the Palace of the Republic.

During the last three years, 524 streets and more than 800 km of engineering networks were built and repaired. Of the 3,877 Almaty courts, almost 1,400 households were covered by capital repairs.
