The new project of the National Scientific and Practical Center "Til-Kazyna" will allow citizens with disabilities to get quick and easy access to information in the Kazakh language. The kind initiative was implemented on behalf of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Committee on Language Policy.
"Screen Announcer is a mobile application that gives blind people the opportunity to improve their quality of life, social activity, get an education and engage in science. For our part, we are making efforts to ensure that the screen announcer improves and develops in accordance with the requirements of the time," said Erol Tleshov, Chairman of the Language Policy Committee.
Now, for visually impaired citizens, the mobile application reads any information in audio mode. The app is currently working for Android smartphones. The developers of the project said that the iOS version will be launched soon.
"This screen reader system is especially important for Kazakh-speaking users who want to receive information in their native language. With the help of the new application, users will be able to easily browse web pages, emails and documents, and access information in the state language," said Makpal Zhumabai, Director General of the National Research and Development Center "Til-Kazyna".
The socially significant meeting was attended by representatives of the Ministry of NGOs of the Republic of Kazakhstan, deputies of the Mazhilis of the Republic of Kazakhstan, specialists in inclusive education, as well as scientists and authors of projects, public activists and journalists.
"The screen announcer app has been used all over the world since the 2000s. We have been waiting for years, dreaming of a Kazakh-language version of this. It is this benefit that the Til-Kazyna center offers us. This is not only a great joy for all my compatriots with poor eyesight, but also an opening that opens the door to great opportunities! I would like to wish that the developed project is improved annually in a short time," said Deputy of the Mazhilis Kenzhegul Seitzhan.
During the presentation, the project experts Ziyat Abdykaimov and Musagali Dauylov elaborated on the features of the application and expressed gratitude to the authors of the project.
