93 years since the birth of Mukagali Makatayev.

Today marks the 93rd anniversary of the birth of Kazakh poet Mukagali Makatayev. He was born on February 9, 1931 in Narynkol district of Almaty region. The poet, who did not receive due appreciation at the time, became famous after our country gained independence and became one of the poets who sing folk songs by heart. Currently, there is a literary prize named after Mukagali Makatayev, and republican mushairs are held annually.
