In December last year, the President signed the Law "On Amendments and Addenda to Some Legislative Acts of the Republic of Kazakhstan on Visual Information and Religious Activity." According to the amendments to the law, signs and advertisements must be written mainly in the Kazakh language. This requirement will apply to the traditional, historically formed Kazakh names of administrative-territorial units, components of settlements, as well as other physical and geographical objects in the state language. It is also planned to place advertisements, price lists, price tags, menus, indicators and other visual information in the state language, and, if necessary, in Russian and other languages. That is, it must be in the first state language. We talked to Medet Iskakov, the head of the regional department for language development, about these and other issues related to the state language policy. During the raid, entrepreneurs were explained the requirements of the legislation on language. Employees of the Department provide free methodological and translation assistance to entrepreneurs to correct deficiencies. As a result of the explanatory work, 4370 incorrectly executed visual information and advertising texts were brought in line with legal requirements. Raids in this direction will continue in the future.
