There is a helpline for NGO representatives

Both representatives of non-governmental organizations and members of the expert commission can contact the helpline number of the Center for Support of Civil Initiatives on Corruption offenses, the press service of the Center reports.

Today, an online meeting was held at the Center for Support of Civil Initiatives to explain the rights and obligations of experts who are members of the Competition Commission for the provision of state grants for NGOs.

The event was attended by experts, representatives of the Ministry of Information and Social Development of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the project office "Adaldyk Alany" and the Center for Support of Civil Initiatives.

As the Chairman of the Board of the Center for Support of Civil Initiatives, Lima Diaz, noted, the Center pays special attention to improving the competencies of the members of the expert commission that determines the winners of the competition for the provision of state grants for NGOs.

"We understand that the work of the members of the expert commission requires a responsible approach, certain knowledge and skills. In addition, there are experts who joined the competition commission for the first time this year. Therefore, in order to improve their competencies, we will conduct special trainings and seminars throughout the year. We will explain the procedures for evaluating NGO applications," said the head of the Center.

Also, according to Lima Diaz, in order to prevent the facts of corruption during the consideration of applications from non-governmental organizations, the work of the Anti-Corruption Compliance Service has been intensified.

"Today we are strengthening the work of the Anti-Corruption Compliance Service of the Center. We have a helpline. Appeals and complaints to the number 8 771 348 83 84 can be sent by both members of the expert commission and applicants. NGO representatives can file complaints against the expert commission in case of violation of their rights. And the members of the expert commission can contact us if they think that a certain applicant is putting pressure on them. All calls are received anonymously," she said.

Recall that last week the procedure for the formation of an expert commission for 2022 was carried out at the Center for the Support of Civil Initiatives.

The members of the expert commission were determined by using a random number generator. Thus, the main commission consisted of 31, and the reserve composition - 25 experts.

It should be noted that in 2022, 53 grants were allocated for NGOs with the support of the Ministry of Information and Social Development of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
