Within the framework of the nationwide project “Marathon of Good Deeds” the international school Miras in Almaty will hold a series of charity Christmas events that will last from November 29 to December 10.
During this period, students will take part in three charity projects, including:
- "Give warmth!" to collect warm clothes for children from orphanages, poor families,
- the project "Playing together" to collect board games, toys for children from orphanages and families in need,
- as well as the project "Pampers Drive", dedicated to the collection of diapers for baby homes in Almaty and Almaty region.
According to the school's management, the organization of charity Christmas events has become a good tradition from the very first days: for 22 years now, school students have been taking part voluntary in collecting necessary things for the needy.
"For the last 4 years we have been cooperating with the Right to Love Foundation. Last year, through them, we managed to reach 250 children with help, as well as children from the Kenes center and the Chilik orphanage. They were given things, toys, board games and books from the school's students," said Alla Kurbanova, Deputy Director for Educational Work at the Miras International School.
In addition, there are other charity projects at the school. One of them is a "Bravery Box" for patients of the children's Department of Oncology and Hematology. Students, parents and staff of the Miras International School annually take an active part in collecting toys for children with a serious illness in the Palliative Care Center.
The idea of the campaign is to support a child who goes to the treatment room or for surgery. Before the procedure, the child is allowed to take any toy he likes from the " Bravery Box ", with which he is not so afraid to cross the threshold of the treatment room or operating room.
"Charity is very important, because no matter who you are, no matter where you study, you can always help. Someone in this world will really appreciate your help. I started doing charity work on the example of my parents and school. In the future, I plan to continue doing this," a student of the school, one of the leaders of the charity committee Maratova Marcel shared.
Recall that the nationwide project "Marathon of Good Deeds" was launched in February this year on the initiative of the President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev. To date, about 3 million Kazakhstanis take part in the project, and more than 200 thousand people have received targeted social assistance.
The project is being implemented on grant funds of the Ministry of Information and Social Development of the Republic of Kazakhstan with the support of the Center for Support of Civil Initiatives.
