The Ministry continues to work on improving the mechanisms of grant financing of NGOs

On April 2, a regular meeting of the working group was held to discuss the proposed amendments to the Law "On State Social Order, Grants and Awards for NGOs in the Republic of Kazakhstan".
The Ministry of Information and Public Development, together with the Center for Support of Civil Initiatives, discussed the implementation of the graded grants system and the mechanism for evaluating the effectiveness of state grants. The types of grants, such as short-term, medium-term and long-term, are considered. Together with experts from the non-governmental sector, we worked out the requirements for NGOs, the amount of funding and the timing of implementation, depending on the type of grants.
The Ministry also proposed to expand the list of state bodies that provide grants through the CPGI, giving this competence to central state bodies.
Taking into account the law enforcement practice, the approaches to determining the costs of material and technical support and institutional development of NGOs, depending on the type of grants, have been revised.
The President of the Civil Alliance of Kazakhstan, Banu Nurgazieva, offered the experience of Russian colleagues in the grant policy, namely, noted the need to conduct all competitive procedures through the portal. She also suggested monitoring the quality of grant projects.
During the discussion, many proposals were received from experts - members of the working group, which will also be reflected in the documents being developed.
