East Kazakhstan continues to improve the coast of Lake Alakol. Since 2016, KZT6.2 billion has already been allocated for these purposes. This year, the amount of budget investments is KZT 3.9 billion.
Despite the fact that the infrastructure is constantly improving, and the coast of the lake is included in the TOP 10 Maps of the tourism development in the country, there are still shortcomings in the obligations of entrepreneurs. The head of the region Danial Akhmetov, visiting Arbat, was not satisfied with the way businessmen are building the main street of the coast.
- The large-scale improvement is ongoing here. There have been major changes compared to previous years. But each time I pay entrepreneurs’ attention to the fact that we need a different level of attitude towards the Kazakhstanis who come here as tourists. Businessmen must become competitive with the Turkish coast with the quality of service delivery meeting global standards. Entrepreneurs in the field of nutrition make a big profit. But there is still no restaurant or cafe which could meet such requirements. Moreover, such catering facilities are located in the very center, on the first coastline. They don’t think about improvement, about the quality of services, they know that people will come to them at all costs”, said Akim of East Kazakhstan region.
The head of the region ordered to remove from the Arbat all catering facilities that do not meet standard requirements. In total, there are 345 service facilities on the lake’s coast, including 175 vacation homes with 11.500 beds, 36 catering facilities, 27 shops, 104 kiosks, 3 pharmacies.
This year, 8 new resorts were built, and 11 expanded the area. This will create an additional 650 beds. The construction of the Alakol Love tourist complex for 200 people is underway. The implementation of two projects under the Employment Roadmap Program, namely the construction of water and electricity networks, has also begun.
Construction and improvement works on a 2.5 km long pedestrian walk and cycleway have been completed, 5 new modular trade pavilions have been installed. This year, there will be new toilets, bathing cabins, a rescue post, and a parking for small water vessels with appropriate fences and information plates on the lake.
A stage, a dance floor and a water park are under construction to organize leisure activities for vacationers.
- The key moment of improving will be the reconstruction of the airport in Urjar, the runway will be extended so that any planes can fly here. This objective will be accomplished by the end of next year. Also, improvement of Urjar settlement is of priority for us, because it is a figurative vacation capital. We allocate KZT2.2 billion to make Urjar more attractive. After 3 years, you will see another Urjar”, said Danial Akhmetov at the meeting with entrepreneurs.
