Today, the President of the country Kassym-jomart Tokayev published his address to the people of Kazakhstan. The Head of state stressed that the situation in the world remains difficult. The global economy is experiencing the biggest shock.
Taking into account the epidemiological situation in Kazakhstan and on the basis of a proposal by the State Commission, the President decided to extend the state of emergency until May 11.
Thanks to previously taken measures, East Kazakhstan managed to restrain the rapid spread of the coronavirus infection. Unfortunately, COVID-19 infections continue to grow in neighboring regions. The threat remains.
Under the conditions of emergency, we were able to maintain the economic activity of large industrial enterprises of East Kazakhstan region. In general, all life support structures of the region continue to work. Construction of socially important facilities, road repairs, and land improvement are underway at a high pace. The implementation of infrastructure projects within the framework of the Employment Roadmap Program with the creation of 20,000 jobs is under special control in the region.
I especially note that today, as part of the execution of the President’s order to fulfill social obligations to the population, about 220,000 of East Kazakhstanis have received benefits in the amount of KZT42,500.
Green corridors also function effectively at all checkpoints. Residents have the opportunity to freely travel to their summer cottages. Many facilities in the service sector work online. The main requirement is to maintain social distance and security.
Dear compatriots, for the sake of the health of our loved ones, we must show patience and responsibility. If the epidemiological situation is stable within 10 days, there are no new cases of the coronavirus, we can soften the quarantine regime. This means that a number of service industry enterprises will be able to return to their previous mode of operation.
