The head of region Danial Akhmetov once again got familiar with the construction progress of a four-storeyed tennis center, which is another unique facility in the sports cluster of East Kazakhstan region.

According to the head of the region, the total area of the country's first tennis center, meeting international standards, is 9,600 square meters.

“This is another important facility in our sports cluster. Now the base is ready and frame work is underway; before the cold weather, the building of the center will be fully erected. All communications have already been connected - heat, electricity, water. Everything was done in time for the finishing work to take place in a warm place,” Danial Akhmetov said.

He also added that two gyms will be located in the center. Thus, about 250 athletes will be able to train there simultaneously. Moreover, 18 tennis tables will be installed in the competition hall, and tables for low-mobility athletes will also be provided.

“Tennis is a spectacular and beautiful Olympic sport. It is increasingly popular in our country. In East Kazakhstan region alone, almost 11,000 athletes attend 458 tennis sections! And the new center will allow our tennis players to improve their skills”, stressed the head of the region.

It is also important to say that a medical rehabilitation center will operate there, where athletes will get the most modern medical care and rehabilitation. Thus, East Kazakhstan region continues to implement the instructions of the President of the country Kassym-Jomart Tokayev regarding the development of mass sports.

“Making tennis a mass sport is one of our key challenges at the moment. Today, physical culture and sports complexes are being built in 15 settlements of the region with hundreds of children and adults to get the opportunity to go in for sports professionally and to improve their health,” said the head of the region.

After visiting the tennis center, the regional akim also stressed that the next task of the local authorities is to improve the qualifications and skill level of coaches.

To date, a three-level special program has already been drawn up, which provides for cooperation with leading experts from near and far abroad.

“I am convinced that coaches who will use innovations while preparing athletes will be able to bring up new Olympic Champions,” concluded Danial Akhmetov.
