Over 100 investment projects being implemented simultaneously in East Kazakhstan region - Danial Akhmetov

Despite the pandemic, East Kazakhstan region demonstrates good rates of development, the regional akim said during the report at the VII session of the Regional Maslikhat.

According to Danial Akhmetov, key infrastructure projects are being implemented in East Kazakhstan region. One of the most important is the construction of a bridge across the Bukhtarma Reservoir. This large-scale project will solve a set of transport and logistics problems in the region and will link remote villages to the center with fast roads. Moreover, the bridge will provide the further development of domestic and abroad tourism.

Other important projects for the region include the installation of Sergek cameras, mass asphalting of roads, reconstruction of boiler houses and a highway bridge, construction of two schools in Semey city, reconstruction of an airport in Urjar, construction of bypass roads in large cities of the region, a hematological center in Ust-Kamenogorsk, and also the Turgusun Hydroelectric Power Station and a boiler house in Gluboky settlement. By the way, the last facility is a new step in the heat supply of the region. If the new boiler house, which is being built according to modern European technologies, passes the tests with dignity, the project will be scaled up to build similar heating plants in other districts of East Kazakhstan region.

Another direction in the work of the regional akimat is the development of border territories and former districts centers, where large-scale construction is now underway. This strengthens the morale and confidence in the future of the residents of the districts. Now they see that much attention is paid to their villages and settlements, even the most remote ones - new schools are being built, roads are being repaired, sports and cultural facilities are being created.

“In general, despite the adjustments that the pandemic has made in our life, the region demonstrates good rates of development and good indicators in comparison with the national average. We now have 102 projects in our investment portfolio, and 180 of them will be implemented as part of public-private partnerships. Work in this direction will certainly continue,” said Danial Akhmetov.
