Found artifacts demonstrate the level of knowledge of our ancestors in the metallurgy - Danial Akhmetov

The ancestors who lived in the territory of the today East Kazakhstan region led a sedentary lifestyle, cultivated the land and had profound knowledge of the agriculture, as well as the mining and processing of metals, said the Head of the region Danial Akhmetov during his regular visit to the archaeological complex Akbaur in Ulan district.

The head of the region got acquainted with the progress of the archaeological work on the Eleke Sazy Plateau, where a huge necropolis of several groups of burial grounds was discovered dated from the era of the early Saks to the Middle Turkic period of implementation. For the third year already, a world-known scientist Zeinolla Samashev has been leading the excavations here. Thanks to the work of historians and archaeologists, it became known that the ancestors of the present-day inhabitants of the region were sedentary in this area and had profound knowledge in various fields, including the mining and processing of metals. The artifacts and tools found unequivocally indicate that there were workshops there, where metal was melted and various metal products were made. The excavations prove that the ancient Kazakhs had deep knowledge in the agriculture, and had efficient capacities in the land development. “I am convinced that the exhibits that have already been discovered and will still be found here will not only replenish the funds of our museums, but will also provide answers to many questions regarding the history of Kazakhstan. Research work at Akbaur will undoubtedly continue. There are 20 more areas that need to be studied,” Danial Akhmetov noted during the meeting with the scientists. It should be noted that the members of the international expedition, as well as more than 30 students of Sarsen Amanzholov EKSU, Shakarim University, Higher College of Geodesy and Cartography and other educational institutions of the Republic. Moreover, there is a mobile laboratory there for onsite studying of artifacts.
