In December 2021, the Akim of the East Kazakhstan region and the Department of the Anti-Corruption Agency of the Republic of Kazakhstan (Anti-Corruption Service) for the East Kazakhstan Region (hereinafter referred to as the Department) signed a Memorandum of Cooperation developed in accordance with paragraph 3 of Article 16 of the Law "On Combating Corruption", according to which structural units performing the functions of anti-corruption compliance services are determined in quasi-public sector entities, the main task of which is to ensure that the relevant organization and its employees comply with anti-corruption legislation.
The purpose of the Memorandum is to systematize the activities of compliance services of local executive bodies. The coordinating role for the creation and methodological support of compliance services is assigned to the Department.
