About 400 residents of Mangystau have changed their surnames
In 8 months of 2024, 389 citizens applied to the departments of the RAGS of the Mangystau region to apply for a change of surname, first name or patronymic. There were also 2,571 applications for amendments, additions and corrections to the civil status records.
It should be noted that every citizen of the Republic of Kazakhstan who has reached the age of sixteen can apply for a change of surname, first name or patronymic. In order to amend the acts of civil status, children under the age of sixteen need to submit applications from a parent or legal representative. By the way, to change a child's personal data from the age of ten, his consent is required.
Changing the surname, first name and patronymic is allowed in the following cases:
- difficulties in pronouncing the name, patronymic, surname;
- the desire of the spouse to share a surname with the spouse (spouse), if they remained on premarital surnames during the state registration of marriage (matrimony);
- the desire to bear a surname shared with children from a previous marriage (matrimony or the desire to bear a premarital surname in the event of the death of a spouse;
- the desire to bear the name and (or) surname corresponding to the nationality of one of the parents chosen by the applicant (for different nationalities of the parents);
- the desire to bear a name that has actually developed in life, different from the name in the documents;
- the desire to bear the surname after the name of the father or grandfather according to national traditions;
- the desire to bear the surname and (or) patronymic by the surname and first name of the person who actually raised the applicant;
- the desire to bear a first name, patronymic, surname corresponding to the chosen gender, during a surgical sex change.
To submit an application, you must specify the reasons for the changes. In this case, birth, marriage or divorce certificates, documents confirming the reasons for the request to change the name, patronymic, as well as a photo of the applicant must be attached. It should be noted that an application for the service can be submitted electronically through any departments of the RAGS in the territory of the Republic of Kazakhstan and through the e-government portal.
