On August 25, 2020 was held the 10th meeting of the Interstate Council on the Issues of Legal Protection of Intellectual Property (ICILPIP)

On August 25, 2020 was held the 10th meeting of the Interstate Council on the Issues of Legal Protection of Intellectual Property (ICILPIP), which was attended by representatives of the Department for Intellectual Property Rights of the Ministry of Justice of Kazakhstan and RSE "National Institute of Intellectual Property" MJ RK.

The meeting gathered together representatives of the national patent offices of the CIS member States, the CIS Executive Committee, the World Intellectual Property Organization, the Eurasian Patent Office and the Eurasian Economic Commission.

During the meeting information was heard on the implementation of the decisions of the 9th meeting of the ICILPIP, on the state of affairs in the CIS member States in the field of intellectual property protection, reports on the activities of the ICILPIP and the Russian State Academy of Intellectual Property (RSAIP), as well as on the implementation of the Concept of Formation and Development of the Intellectual Property Market of the CIS member States dated October 28, 2016.

Members of the ICILPIP also provided information on the interaction of national patent offices with applicants, rights-holders and interested parties during the COVID-19 pandemic, and discussed proposals to overcome the negative consequences of the pandemic.

The participants made several proposals for further work and interaction within the framework of the ICILPIP, as well as for the Project for the Industrial production of regional joint patent information product of CIS countries "CISPATENT".

The CIS Executive Committee provided information on the current status of the draft agreement on cooperation of the CIS member States on the protection of copyright and related rights in a digital environment and the Agreement on cooperation of the CIS member States for the Prevention and Repression of the Use of False Trademarks and Geographical Indications.

The next meeting of the ICILPIP is scheduled to be held in the second half of 2021 in the Republic of Moldova.
