The 13th meeting of the Interstate Council for legal protection and enforcement of intellectual property

On May 16, 2023, the 13th meeting of the Interstate Council for the Legal Protection and Enforcement of Intellectual Property (ICIP) was held in Moscow.

The meeting was attended by representatives of the patent offices of the CIS member states, the CIS Executive Committee, the base organization of the Russian State Academy of Intellectual Property (RSAIP), the Eurasian Patent Office (EAPO) and the Eurasian Economic Commission.

Representatives of the Republic of Azerbaijan took part in the meeting as observers for the first time.

From the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the director of the Department for Intellectual Property Rights Abdreyeva Sholpan  took part in the meeting.

During the meeting of the ICIP, information was heard and discussed on the implementation of the decisions of the 12th meeting of the ICIP, on the state of affairs in the CIS member states of the ICIP in the field of protection and enforcement of intellectual property, on the draft Guidelines for determining the market value (valuation) of intellectual property, on the activities of RGAIP for the reporting period.  

The participants made proposals for further work within the framework of the Project for the industrial production of the regional patent information product of the CIS countries "CISPATENT", including the expansion of data to be included to CISPATENT. The information of the representative of the CIS Executive Committee on the draft Action Plan for the preparation and celebration of the 80th anniversary of Victory in the Great War in 2025 in the CIS was taken into account.

The President of the EAPO informed about the development of the office, in particular, about the integration projects being implemented by the EAPO in the field of intellectual property and promising areas for the development of the Eurasian patent system.

The next meeting of the ICIP is scheduled for 2024.

Yury Zubov, the head of the Federal Service for Intellectual Property, was elected Chairman of the ICIP.
