In connection with the adoption of the Decree of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan dated March 23, 2019 "On renaming the city of Astana – the capital of the Republic of Kazakhstan to the city of Nur-Sultan-the capital of the Republic of Kazakhstan", the Ministry of justice explains the following:
Changing the name of the capital doesn't impose an obligation on citizens to replace legal documents on real estate such as a contract of sale, donation, exchange, acts of acceptance for operation and others, as well as documents on registration of acts of civil status - birth certificate, death certificate, conclusion / termination marriage, etc.
The indication in the documents of the previous change of capital doesn't entail their invalidity.
In turn, in the information systems of the Ministry of Justice the name of the settlement from Astana to Nur-Sultan will be automatically changed.
Branches of the state Corporation "Government for citizens", as well as state authorities and organizations will accept documents in the provision of public services in the same mode.
